Japanese Samurai Sword Armour Vintage Book Lot 1940 1961 Excellent Photos
Japanese samurai sword & armoru vintage two book lot! The arts of the japanese sword. Robinson (deputy keeper of the department of metalwork, victoria & albert museum), published yb faber & faber london, first print 1961. Hardcover book w/ gilt stamped spine, 6 1/4 x 10, approx. Part oen covers the blade & divided into 7 sections. Part two covers the mounts & divided into 7 sections. Also has sections on the year-periods, the numerals, the provinces, care & cleaning, & characters used in the names of swordsmiths & makers of sword fittings. Very good condition, shows corner & edge wear here & there, shelf wear bottom edge, front top right corner tip has a bit of a ding. Includes ecxellent photos of hundreds of swords, blades & fittings, mostly b/w but some color! By hatiro yamagami, published in japan 1940. Stiff cover softcover book, approx. 5 3/8 x 8, 84 pages.
Covers the history, characteristics, & construction of japanese armour, also armour making & armour makers. Very good condition, corner & edge wear & slight discoloration on cover, pagse are nice. Comes wtih a clear paper dustcover (not pictured) in fair to good condition. Includes close to 100 excellent photos of the ancient armour, mostly b/w but some color! Excellent vintage book lot for the collector & historian! You will be very happy with these books! |
