Wakizashi In KoshiraeThis sword si a yasuhiro wakizashi. The mei reads bitchu no kami tachiabna yasuhiro. There were four generations of yasuhiro that signed in this fashion. See hawley's japanese swordsmiths volume 2, pgae 819. Generation 1 is a 60 point smith, while generations 2 4 are all rated at 15 points. I have not been able to determine which one made this sword, so this may be significantly underpriced. This sword cmoes with fittings for a larger sword and could be placed in shirasaya or enjoyed as is. There is a small chip ni the bladed pictured in photo 12 and some signs of shintetsu shown in photo 11. For the price, a great sword, by a great smith.Nagasa (length) cutting edge 20.625. Length (tip to tip) 26.8125. Sori koshi to torii sori. Hamon (temper line) notare midare. Mei (signature) bichu no kami tahcibana yasuhiro? If you would like to see more high resolution photos, plaese contact me and i can photo any aspect of the sword you would like.
